Mireia Companys

Mireia Tena Companys (Barcelona, 1975) studied Catalan Literature, Translation and Interpretation at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is completing her PhD in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature on Roberto Bolaño’s works. She is a translator and a teacher; as professor of Catalan language and literature she worked at the University of Sassari (Sardinia) and at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. She has published several poetical works in collective books (Salvatges silencis, 2004 and Bellesa ferotge, 2006, were published by Fonoll and won the poetry prize Joan Duch in 2003 and 2005), magazines and newspapers (Diari de Terrassa, won the Ferran Canyameres Short Stories Prize in 2000). In 2007 she has participated in the X Night of Poetry at the VII Poetry Festival of Sant Cugat del Vallès. She has published a book of poems, Perfils de la inconsistència (Octavio Paz Poetry Prize in 2002, Edicions Vienna, 2003), a short novel titled La mirada ferida (Publicacions de l’Abadia de Montserrat, 2006) and the collection of short stories Venècies. La incerta topografia dels somnis, winner of the 7 Lletres Prize in 2009 (Pagès Editors, 2009). She is anthologised in the poetry anthology Donzelles de l’any 2000 (Editorial Mediterrània, 2013) and participated to the exhibition of photography and poetry Interpretazioni (Rome and Alghero, 2013) as well to various presentations and recitals in cities such as Barcelona, Alghero, Venice or Guadalajara (Mexico).
